I updated my MPLAB from v5.45 to v6.2 recently, but when I tried to use my favorite MCC, it decided to turn into MCC Melody. Now, MCC Melody is basically just a better MCC Classic, but when I tried to open my new MCC Melody, it got stuck at “handshaking content,” and MPLAB was unresponsive. I fixed this error with the following steps:
- Turn off MPLAB through Task Manager
- Open MCC Content Manager (not MCC itself)
- Select the latest versions of all of the libraries you want (or optionally select specific versions – just make sure to have them)
- If you need only a specific device or content type, narrow down your search; however, I selected everything, and the download was almost immediate
- Click apply to download the selected libraries
I couldn’t find a solution to this error anywhere, so this is what I did to fix it. I’m not sure why this happened since it was a fresh installation of MPLAB, but I guess something didn’t get installed. I had the same error on a different installation, and this is how I fixed it there, too.
Microchip removed USB Framework Lite from the new MCC. I’m devastated.
